Caleb Williams Topples Caitlin Clark's Record For Draft Night Jersey Sales
Thursday was a historic night for quarterbacks as six QBs were selected in the top-12 of the 2024 NFL Draft. As for No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, he made a little history of his own.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner broke the Fanatics record for most draft night merchandise sales for any draft pick in any sport. The previous record was set by Caitlin Clark, who was selected No. 1 overall by the WNBA's Indiana Fever just last week.

Fanatics confirmed the record Friday morning — posting on X, "#DaBears just proved they might be the hypest fanbase in the league."
The Bears announced Thursday night that Williams will wear No. 18. And those jerseys immediately flew off the digital shelves.
Williams wore No. 13 in college at both Oklahoma and USC. But the Bears' newly acquired wide receiver (and six-time Pro Bowler) Keenan Allen has already laid claim to No 13, which he's worn his entire NFL career.
"If it was the Bears, I couldn't tell you," Williams said before the draft when asked about his jersey number. "Because if I went there, there's a 13-year Hall of Fame vet. So that would be tough. But yeah. We'll see."
Williams wore No. 18 in high school.
So, with all of Chicago clamoring for his jersey, it's safe to say expectations are high for the 22-year-old rookie.
Per Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti, Williams is expected to sign a four-year, fully guaranteed $39.4million contract with the Bears, including a $25.5M signing bonus and a fifth-year option in 2028.
