Caitlin Clark's Father, Brent, Comically Tells Her To Stop Complaining During Game Against Holy Cross

The best moment of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ win on Saturday over the Holy Cross Crusaders in the women’s NCAA Tournament wasn’t a specific play. It came courtesy of Cailtin Clark’s father, Brent.

With less than a minute to go in the first quarter of this first round matchup, Iowa guard Kate Martin committed a foul and sent Kaitlyn Flanagan to the free throw line. After the Hawkeyes briefly huddled up, Clark made her way to the sideline and started complaining about the referees to someone in the crowd.

It's strange that she spent so much energy on complaining about a few calls. After all, Iowa had a 19-point advantage at that point in the game. I get that Clark is somewhat of a perfectionist, but even this seems excessive.

Apparently, so did her Brent.

Caitlin started voicing her frustration at her dad, who was sitting in the crowd. Evidently, he also thought that his daughter was way out of line.

Fortunately for all of us, the cameras picked up on this interaction, including the part where an exasperated Brent told his superstar daughter to stop complaining and just play ball.

During her collegiate career, Caitlin has ascended to become the most well-known college basketball player in America. But that doesn’t mean that Brent doesn’t have to keep her in line every now and again, even though she is 22 years old.

The parenting grind truly never stops.

Caitlin wouldn't be disappointed for very long though. The Hawkeyes pulled off a 91-65 victory to advance to the Round of 32. They will face the winner of the West Virginia-Princeton game.
