Caitlin Clark's Scoreless First Quarter Draws Second-Ever Sold-Out Crowd For Connecticut Sun

Caitlin Clark's introduction to the WNBA is already breaking attendance records.

The Indiana Fever's top pick of the 2024 WNBA draft and former Iowa Hawkeyes star is making her WNBA debut on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun, and it's a surefire bet that Clark's otherworldly shooting ability and handles will make her a traveling sensation.

Facing off against the Sun, Clark's debut drew a sold-out crowd to Connecticut's home venue: the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena.

Tuesday's crowd marked just the second-ever sold-out audience for a Connecticut Sun game.

The last time the Mohegan Sun was filled to the brim with fans was in 2003, during Connecticut's inaugural season in the WNBA.

Coming into the contest, tickets for the Fever/Sun matchup went for as low as $105, a 133 percent increase from last year's prices for a regular-season Sun game.

"I just feel really excited more than anything. I don't really get nervous. I don't get anxious," Clark told the media on Tuesday. "I just get a giddy excited feeling, like I just can't wait for the moment to be here and just go out there and play the game and have a lot of fun."

The Caitlin Clark Effect is real.

(In a surprising twist, Clark suffered a lackluster first-quarter debut, scoring a goose egg in six minutes of play during the period.)
