Bryson DeChambeau Tips His Cap While Not Wearing One In All-Time Awkward Masters Moment: Video

Bryson DeChambeau had himself a Thursday at Augusta National by posting a seven-under 65 and grabbing the first-day lead at the Masters. The moment of the day didn't have anything to do with the shots he managed to pull off, however, but instead it was all about him soaking up love from the patrons while walking up the 18th fairway.

DeChambeau entered this week's Masters, the eighth appearance in his career, with an underwhelming track record in the year's first major. His best finish came back in 2016 when he finished T-21 as still only an amateur at the time. In 2020, when DeChambeau was transforming himself into a human boulder, infamously called the Par 72 Augusta track a "Par 67" because he could reach each Par 5 with ease.

In four starts since downplaying the course's difficulty he hasn't finished better than T-34 and missed the cut each of the last two years.

With all that in mind, Thursday's 65 served as a feeling of relief for DeChambeau, and he soaked up the moment walking up his final hole of the day, and managed to do so in peak Bryson fashion.

He took his hat off, waved to patrons, and went for the hat tip forgetting that he took his hat off just seconds earlier.

More often than not, waving to the crowd on 18 is reserved for Sundays. You'll occasionally see it earlier in the week if a player holes out from the fairway, it's that player's final Masters, or the player is named Tiger Woods, but Dechambeau threw all of that out the window and decided to relish every moment.

Just about everything involved with DeChambeau is unique. His swing, his clubs, his thought process, and now you can add this magical moment to the all-time greats list.

Golf is better when DeChambeau is playing well, not only because he's incredibly fun to watch, but because moments like this one typically accompany his good play.
