Broncos Champ Mark Schlereth Mocks Russell Wilson's First Pitch Appearance

Russell Wilson can escape pressure from opposing NFL defenses but can't evade catching online strays.

The new Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was invited to toss the first pitch in Monday's game between the Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park.

Wilson, who's clocked in plenty of hours on the baseball field before going pro in the NFL and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies, delivered an impressive first pitch but still managed to be the butt of someone's joke.

And that someone was former offensive lineman Mark Schlereth.

While no one knows what the heck Mark Schlereth's vendetta with Wilson is, the ex-NFLer still went after the QB for his appearance on the mound.

Re-posting the clip of Wilson's pitch, Schlereth mocked Wilson for not tucking the ball and running, something he's known to do on the football field.

Schlereth, a three-time Super Bowl winner (two with the Broncos), sounded salty over Wilson's brief yet failing tenure in Denver.

"I’m pleasantly surprised he didn’t pull the ball and scramble for a strike!" the retired player posted on X.

Ouch.

Does Russell have a penchant for sitting in the pocket too long? Sure … but even this was a bit cruel by Schlereth. Then again, not a ton of people are going to bat for Wilson ever since he left the Seahawks.

After an infamous, one-sided split with Denver, the 35-year-old opted to sign with the Steelers this offseason.

Mark Schlereth's son, Daniel, spent a cameo with the Pirates in 2013 after joining on a minor league deal.

Commenters under Schlereth's post agreed with the retiree, suggesting Wilson return to playing baseball as he fails to live up to his Super Bowl-winning days in Seattle.

"His best throw in 5 years," one critic said on X.
