Baylor's Scott Drew Causes A Frenzy At Local Restaurant In Waco Due To Tweet, Kentucky Fans Flood Phone Lines

Have you ever seen a college basketball coaching search lead to a restaurant getting bombarded with phone calls and positive reviews online? Well, we have now, thanks to Baylor head coach Scott Drew and Kentucky basketball fans.

It all started early Wednesday morning as news continued to come out that Kentucky was targeting Scott Drew to takeover for John Calipari as the new head basketball coach. This is usually the part where fans start tracking planes, calling every friend they have that might have a connection to the school, and fans ending up at the local airport to see if their new head coach was getting off a plane.

This time, the crazy moment occurred at a local restaurant in Waco, Texas, called Mi Casita. What the restaurant owner didn't expect when he awoke that morning was Baylor head coach Scott Drew posting a photo from his establishment, during a coaching search that involved Kentucky basketball.

It certainly came as a surprise for Oscar Salazar, who manages the restaurant, after his phone started pinging with new reviews popping up from folks who had not visited the establishment before. Turns out, workers at the restaurant started getting phone calls from Kentucky fans wanting to pass along their appreciation for the coach.

And, it's also one of the most important head coach searches in college basketball history. For the restaurant owner, he was caught in the middle of it, thanks to some wild fans.

Yes, Scott Drew posted a tweet from Mi Casita, Kentucky fans figured out a way to pass a message to the Baylor head coach, and left over 40 different comments on the restaurant review page. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.

"I'll actually look into like all the reviews that we get. If we get one or two reviews, I'll look at it and try to reply to all of them," manager  Oscar Salazar told KXXV television station. "I got 40 plus reviews or comments within 10 minutes. So I thought, you know, something had happened. I called to ask and that's whenever the person that was here in the morning talked to me about it,"

Was Scott Drew Actually A Decoy For His Family? I Love These Coaching Searches

According to a report on Wednesday night, it sounds as if Scott Drew was actually playing a game of diversion. While he was not in Lexington, his family was in Kentucky to look at their potential new home.

Baylor head coach Scott Drew has spoken with Kentucky officials about potentially accepting the job, but this is a very hard decision for a guy who has built so much in Waco.

We will see what comes next in this coaching search for Kentucky, but I wouldn't expect another restaurant to make national news for two guys enjoying some chips and salsa.
