Anthony Kim Claims He Only Found Out This Week That Brooks Koepka Won Back-To-Back Major Championships

Since his surprise return to golf with LIV, Anthony Kim has made it abundantly clear that he had nothing to do with the sport after his disappearing act in 2012. Based on his recent claim regarding fellow LIV player Brooks Koepka, Kim may have been living without a television or access to the Internet for a number of years as well.

Kim held a traditional press conference for the first time in over a decade ahead of this week's LIV Miami event and heavily leaned into his story of staying as far away from golf as humanly possible over the last 12 years claiming that he only learned that Brooks Koepka won back-to-back US Opens and PGA Championships on Wednesday of this week.

"I think I probably watched nine holes of golf when I wanted to fall asleep," Kim began. "But I didn't watch much golf. I just found out from DJ (Dustin Johnson) yesterday, playing a practice round with him yesterday, that Brooks [Koepka] won back-to-back majors, which is awesome. But I had no clue that that happened."

I'm fully aware that there are millions of people walking the planet who have never even heard the name Brooks Koepka, but it's incredibly hard to believe that Kim, a man who played at the highest level for years, was completely unaware that Koepka absolutely dominated the sport from 2017-2019.

Speaking of 2019, another well-known player by the name of Tiger Woods won a little tournament in Augusta that year in what is one of the greatest comeback stories in sports history. Kim was aware Woods won the Masters that year, but only barely.

"Where I was in my life, I really wasn't focused on golf," Kim said after being asked if he was aware Woods won the 2019 Masters. "I definitely heard that it happened but I mean, you know, going through some of the things I've gone through in my life, I wasn't focused on golf. I didn't care about somebody who won a golf tournament."

I think the shtick of Kim cutting all ties to golf for over a decade has jumped the shark. Then again, he revealed after his first start on LIV that he was playing with golf clubs off the rack and hadn't had the opportunity to get fitted for proper specs.
