Alabama OL Elijah Pritchett Reportedly Arrested For The Second Time In Just Five Months

Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett has found himself in legal trouble once again, this time being arrested on Friday night for an ‘exhibition of speed’ that occurred in Tuscaloosa.

According to Tide 1009, Pritchett was speeding near the strip on Friday evening when Tuscaloosa police officers noticed a black Dodge Charger driving erratically through the highly populated area that is near Bryant Denny Stadium.

The report states that officers were trying to approach the vehicle on foot, which is when Pritchett sped off down Frank Thomas Avenue. According to a deposition obtained by the outlet, "Officers could hear the vehicle accelerating quickly and the sound of tires squealing as the vehicle drove around on Frank Thomas". This led to two officers getting into their patrol car to search for the vehicle, which was then seen by another officer near the strip driving at a high rate of speed.

Following the incident, officers spotted the vehicle near the ‘Walk of Champions’ and pulled over the vehicle, where Pritchett was in the driver's seat. Officers on the scene arrested Pritchett on the charge of ‘Exhibition of Speed,’ which is a misdemeanor. He did not have a license plate on his vehicle.

Following his arrest, Pritchett was reportedly released on a $300 bond.

Second Time In Five Months Pritchett Has Been Arrested

The speeding incident on Friday night was not the first time Elijah Pritchett has been arrested by Tuscaloosa police. In December, Pritchett was arrested for knowingly passing a sexually transmitted disease. The misdemeanor charge against him have been sealed due to him being a youthful offender.

Having youthful offender status granted is a reason why there has not been much of a follow-up regarding the case involving Pritchett from December. There is also the chance that a pretrial diversion would ultimately be reduced or dismissed due to his youthful offender status.

But this latest case of behavior will certainly not sit well with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer. After entering his name into the transfer portal last December, Pritchett decided to remain at Alabama and continue competing for the starting job, which he competed for with Kaydn Protctor. Now, with Proctor returning to Alabama after having a cup of coffee with the Iowa Hawkeyes, we will see where Pritchett ends up on the offensive line this Fall.

Having experience at the tackle position is key for this Alabama football team. As for any type of punishment for this latest run-in with law enforcement, we will see what type of punishment Kalen DeBoer decides upon.
