Well, this is going to cause a stir amongst SEC fans.
On Thursday, the SEC circulated an email that commissioner Greg Sankey would be addressing the media later today at 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT).
Such news is not particularly noteworthy. What makes the tweet particularly odd is the fact that Sankey will make a “significant announcement” regarding the league.
Come to find out, OutKick founder Clay Travis nailed what the announcement is about.
The Disney investor day is at 430 et. Given that the SEC has scheduled a call for 6 et, I’d place a decent wager on the SEC-ESPN/ABC deal for the game of the week that used to be on CBS being officially announced today.

Andy Staples with The Athletic, shortly after Clay, tweeted out the news that the SEC would, in fact, be announcing a deal with ESPN/ABC.

It looks like any and all other speculation can now be laid to rest. This is actually good news as it relates to the SEC.
Update: ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro just confirmed this news at Disney Investor Day. He also said that there will be some SEC games on ESPN+.
