The idea popped into my busy brain after hearing about 10 seconds of Scott Frost’s Zoom call with media this week. His Nebraska Cornhuskers have a tough road game against Ohio State to start the B1G COVID Fall Football Cage Match Tournament. Frost, now in his third year as Cornhuskers head coach, spoke as if he and Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day had forged a Randy Savage-Hulk Hogan mega powers alliance in the battle against Kevin Warren and his COVID goon squad.
“We’re grateful to Ohio State,” Frost said Monday on the Zoom call. “It’s strange where you find allies in certain things, and I think we had an ally in Ohio State to try to get the season played. I don’t think it would have got done without Dr. (Jim) Borchers there, without Ryan Day continuing to push it, Gene Smith continuing to push it.”
“I’ve got to give most of the credit for this to Ohio State. We might have been one of the sounding gongs in this, saying we want to play. I don’t think it would have gotten done without their doctor taking the lead and figuring out a way to present it to the presidents to get football back.”
Frost went even further, saying he would jump on the Buckeyes’ bandwagon after Saturday’s game.
“I’m going to root for them in every single game except this first one,” Frost said. “Because I’m grateful to them for going shoulder and shoulder and fighting to get (Big Ten football) back. Our kids are excited to play, we’re excited to play, and there’s been a lot of moments where I didn’t think we’d get here.”
Now, before you blast me for putting Frost and the Cornhuskers in the same company as a Savage or Hogan, I’m just offering an analogy for their relationship. This is a case where enemies put aside differences on the field and come together for a common goal. The Huskers are 9-15 since Frost took over, so they pose little threat to the Buckeyes.
Just go with it. Let you imagination run wild, brother. Let the B1G energy run through your veins. Football across the corn belt is back, thanks to Frost and Day.
As far as winning anything significant, they are more like when Koko B. Ware and Owen Hart teamed up. I am glad they fought so hard to play though.
Scott Frost should of stayed at UCF.
UCF doesn’t have Nebraska-Lincoln money. Bluebloods practically print money, even if they haven’t been relevant in 20 years.
I root for Scott Frost. I liked how he ran that triple option. But, yes. He probably would have been better served to play out the ride he was on at UCF.
Good to see B1G football starting, although I’m sure that the coronabro saboteurs aren’t done yet…
