Texas’ Sam Ehlinger Will Enter Draft

According to Yahoo’s Anwar Richardson, Texas’ QB Sam Ehlinger will skip his extra year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

Days ago, Ehlinger led the Longhorns into a 55-23 crushing of Colorado in the Alamo Bowl. Ehlinger did go down with a shoulder injury, which caused him to miss the entire second half.

While Ehlinger is a senior, the NCAA ruled that this season won’t count towards players’ collegiate eligibility. Thus, Ehlinger had the option to return.

Ehlinger’s draft stock will be worth monitoring as he’s not expected to garner interest in the early rounds of the draft.

  1. I’ve watched every one of his games, and I thank him for his leadership and performance for Longhorn Nation. That being said, I can’t imagine him being anything more than a Day 3 pick. Of course, a 3rd-string roster spot in the NFL pays better than college football (except in the SEC).
