Reporter Confuses Byron Leftwich for Todd Bowles Following Bucs Super Bowl LV Blowout

It seems like it never fails during a Super Bowl media session that a reporter screws up, either asking a ridiculous question ("How long have you been a black quarterback?") or in the case of the postgame Sunday after the Bucs beat down on the Chiefs, screwing up the identity of a couple Bucs coordinators altogether.

A reporter got egg on his face when he was looking to ask Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles a question. The only problem was that the person at the podium at that moment was none other than Tampa offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

The reporter in question was identified as “Michael Donaldson.”

Thankfully Leftwich, who I'm sure has been asked plenty of dumb questions over the years not only during his playing days in the league but also as a coordinator, seemed to handle the mix-up in stride.

“Hey, coach, great win. Congratulations. Going into the game, what was your No. 1 goal on the defensive side to shut Mahomes down, to shut that high-powered offense down. What was your guys’s No. 1 goal going into that game?”

Leftwich simply deflected, telling Donaldson that it's a much better question for Bowles.

“To shut Pat Mahomes down? I think you got the wrong guy. I had nothing to do with that. That was Todd [Bowles].”

Here's video of the confusing exchange.

Credit Leftwich for laughing off and handling the situation as well as any pro could, and not letting the mix-up ruin what was just about a perfect night as the Bucs took home their second Lombardi Trophy.
