Rand Paul to Dr. Fauci: Lying to Congress is a Crime

Sen. Rand Paul got into it with cable news contributor Dr. Anthony Fauci again at a Tuesday Senate hearing.

Paul kicked off the battle by threatening Fauci with imprisonment for “lying” to Congress.

“Dr. Fauci, as you are aware, it is a crime to lie to Congress,” Paul said. “On your last trip to our committee on May 11, you stated that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

"Knowing it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement?”

The Meet the Press doctor didn't budge, saying “I have never lied before the Congress, and I do not retract that statement.” Fauci added that the research in question “was judged by qualified staff up and down the chain as not being gain-of-function."

“You take an animal virus and you increase transmissibility to human, you’re saying that is not gain of function?" Paul asked after Fauci loudly told him to stop interrupting.

“That is correct,” Fauci responds. “Senator Paul, you do not know what you’re talking about, quite frankly, and I want to say that officially. You do not know what you’re talking about!”

Some say once a hearing gets personal that it's no longer productive. Others, not to name any names, say that's when it gets good.

While Fauci held up better today than in past battles with Paul, the guy is just unbearable.

By the way, why is Fauci still on TV every day? Who still listens to this babbling hack?
