ProFootballDoc: Derrick Henry, Jimmy G and Saturday Playoff Injuries

Divisional round of NFL playoffs has two games Saturday and two Sunday. Let’s take Bengals at Titans and 49ers at Packers first.

The most talked about player returning from injury is Derrick Henry. He is coming off IR and will play, but we continue to believe he will not be 100%. Full video analysis of Henry at practice earlier this week shows it. The use of a steel plate proves it. Finally, the limp at Friday’s practice confirms it.

Jimmy Garoppolo had a tough 2nd half last weekend after his shoulder injury. However, he will fight through the shoulder issue as well as the thumb issue he has had since Week 16.

The obviously unhealthy teams have been eliminated, so now we have to focus on recent trends and matchups to find the injury advantages.

TENNESSEE -3.5 vs CINCINNATI

At SICscore.com, we loved the Titans at the -2.5 open but the line has move. Henry is not likely to be the “King” and will split carries with D’Onta Foreman who has played well. However, this game is going to be decided up front and it seems that Tennessee has the advantage. Larry Ogunjobi is out but Trey Hendrickson has cleared his concussion and will play. The right side of the Bengals offensive line is not full go and the Titans may be able to take advantage.

SAN FRANCISCO +5.5 vs GREEN BAY under 47

The talk is about Jimmy Garoppolo’s shoulder and thumb but that is not what will decide the game. The big matchup is the cleared Nick Bosa vs LT David Bahktiari who has yet to play a complete game this season coming off his ACL tear. The Packers have offensive line issues where three of the starters (LT, C, RT) have not played together. Yes they have Jaire Alexander, Za’Darius Smith and Whitney Mercilus coming back, but the key battle is on the line when Aaron Rodgers has the ball and we have our worries.

  1. I’ll go ahead and forewarn the national earthquake information center of a reading they will register around 2:30 pm this afternoon. Don’t worry it is just Nissan Stadium erupting when Derrick Henry’s name is announced.
