Patrick Mahomes Restructures Contract, Giving Chiefs Extra $17 Million To Spend This Offseason

Just moments after Tom Brady's contract was restructured in Tampa, it was announced that Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes' contract had been restructured as well. Madden's cover man is reportedly saving the Chiefs $17 million in cap space by turning that money into a signing bonus.

This is a smart move that should help the team immensely heading into free agency.

Now that the Chiefs have let go of Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, they'll need to find upgrades on that offensive line. Those moves alone saved $18 million, and then with Mahomes' restructure--they now have $35 million to play with.

Reports say that the team hopes to bring back OT Mike Remmers, who thrived at RT last season, so we'll see what type of moves the team makes to protect Mahomes.
