Paige VanZant Continues Her Historic Content Run, Red Wings Rookie No. 1 In A Key Category & Bowling Green, KY Hit By Tornadoes

Let's start this morning by hoping for the best across Western Kentucky

If you're just getting up and haven't turned on the news, a historic tornado outbreak took place in far western Kentucky and Governor Andy Beshear said during a press conference early this morning that it's a mass casualty situation. The governor said officials tracked one tornado for 227 miles. The governor thinks it's possible to have tornado casualties across five counties, with the death toll possibly totaling from 70 to 100 lives.

This is "the most significant tornado event in Kentucky's history," according to Beshear.

All the best to those who have been affected. If you're a Screencaps reader in the region, let us know the situation where you're at and how we can help.

• In Indianapolis, OutKick's Dan Dakich is doing great things for the children with his bicycle giveaway to the children of the community. Next year, I might have to get in on this project and open my own branch here in Dan's old stomping grounds of Wood County where he served as Bowling Green University's basketball coach.

Look at these numbers Dan's doing:

Great work this week on the Penn swimmers story!  Planning our summer trip with our kids, hoping to get some help from Mike T. or Screencaps community.   We are planning a vacation in the west.   Hitting Mt. Rushmore  and parts of Yellowstone.  We are looking for some off the radar fun activities for kids ages 14, 12, and 9 to do in South Dakota and Wyoming.   One thing we are looking at is a hot springs to swim in and hike.   Would love suggestions of places to stay and go in those areas.

Thank you again for providing this place for the real Americans!

Adam has come to the perfect place for such details. Now I expect 50 emails with suggestions for such a trip. Get on it, Screencaps readers

First off, I really enjoy the Screencaps, and have been following for over a year.  Unfortunately, my local Mexican place has $3 margaritas on Thursdays, so I do my mowing on Saturday, but am a staunch supporter of your TNML, and a big fan of “Do Hard Things”.

I wanted to chime in on my ultimate sports trip.  I live in DFW, and flew with a buddy to Boston(lots of side adventures there).  We attended a Red Sox game that night with some other guys.  Around the 4th inning one of the guys said “hey, the Yankees play at 1 tomorrow.”  If we leave at 5 we’ll get there in plenty of time to scalp tix.  6 guys, luggage, and a cooler full of beer in a 5 seat Chevy Blazer left Boston at 5 AM.  Scalped tickets.  Then went  to Giants/Jets preseason game that night.  The next day was the college football Kick-Off Classic in Giants’ Stadium between Ohio State and Miami(when they were worth a crap).  Then an exhausted flight home.

Keep up the good work.

• Keith T. in Philly wants in on this subject and has an incredible story on his sports resume:

Love Outkick, especially Screen Caps. 1992 round of 8 NCAA game at the Spectrum. Duke 104 Kentucky 103. I have been to many great sporting events but that one, which is rated by some as the greatest game in NCAA history, was unreal. After Laettner hit that ridiculous turn around game winner, the arena in its entirety just stood in stunned amazement.

The electricity was real. The whole game was played at a frenetic pace. Funny how we got to the game. My buddy Jim and I were sitting at a pub in Philly and a guy next to us had one ticket to the game. He gave it to us for one pint. We then went down to the Spectrum thinking that we were going to sell the one ticket for $50 and go to another bar. We sold it for $40 and as we were leaving a couple whose team had lost the previous tournament game asked us if we wanted 2 tickets for $20. We gave them $20 had $20 left and the rest is history.

Keep these stories coming about your achievements in sports fandom. Brag on yourself for a minute, especially if you have something in your bio like Keith's experience. And if you're looking for something like this to put on your resume, get a good friend who's up for adventure and start hammering out trips.

My dad and I have our story of paying off a ticket taker (I paid $40) to get into Bama-Ole Miss when the students ripped down the goalposts and carried them to The Grove. Keith has his and Mark has his ultimate East Coast trip.

It's going to be a long winter. These stories are like logs on the fire.

Don’t to forget to mention Al Unser Sr. passed away in screencaps. For us open wheel fans it is a huge loss

Four Indy 500 wins. Most laps led in Indy 500 history. Oldest driver to ever win the 500 (47). Retired from racing a month before his 55th birthday, then his son, Al Unser Jr., won the Indy 500 on Al Sr.'s 55th birthday.

• And finally this morning, Beau in Toledo has been throwing around this idea in his head:

I propose:
(And this is gonna make me dig out a Lebkuchen recipe)

The OutKick Christmas Cookie Tournament

(Any variations of peanut butter/chocolate chip/sugar cookies are not allowed, as they IMMEDIATELY win, simply based on said combination… but that's not to say i won't write them down and try them if posted… I didn't get this fat from #DaddyPops alone)

Whatchya Got, ScreenCapNation??

• And with that, I'm off for a full day of action here in Frankenmuth, MI where we let the kids enjoy the pool until 10 p.m. last night and they easily would've stayed in until midnight if we allowed it. It's time to get all festive, let the kids go nuts playing video games, do some indoor mini golf -- I need to maintain my dominance over my 9-year-old -- and enjoy some holiday spirit with Mrs. Screencaps.

By the way, shoutout to this place we're staying. Last night it was karaoke night at the pool bar where an older Italian man belted out Sinatra's "Love and Marriage."

Have a great weekend and we'll catch up Monday morning.
