Packers Land Heavily Coveted LB Jaylon Smith

The Packers have landed recently released Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Initial reports had the Packers circling the waters for the second-round pick, and now it's official.

Huge get for the Packers.

Smith had interest from the Eagles, Chiefs, and Giants, but eventually decided getting the ball back for Aaron Rodgers was the move.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said yesterday that Jaylon Smith's release had "multiple reasons", while it didn't stop the rest fo the NFL from wanting his services. The Cowboys are on the hook for the remaining $7.2 million on his 2021 salary, and even though they tried to deal Smith earlier this year, it just never happened.

Jaylon Smith signed a five-year, $64 million extension back in 2019 that included $35 million guaranteed. The Packers pried Smith from Dallas for business reasons. Huge pick up.
