Packers Fan Antje Utgaard, Alex Bregman's Cornrows & Vin Scully Gets His World Series Ring

I about fainted last night at Lowe's when I saw the price of 2x4s

There I was, minding my business on a primed pine trim board run when I saw the price of basic 2x4x8 lumber. The cheap stuff is at $7.61 a board while the not-as-cheap, not-slumming it 'Top Choice' 2x4s are at $8.98. Weren't those boards like $3 back in the fall? I knew plywood prices have been skyrocketing because my buddies always text the price to our group when they're at one of the box stores. Now I'm learning that the framing lumber is also sky high. Should've known.

Needless to say, I'm very thankful my basement project is in the finish trim stage, and the days of buying mass quantities of framing lumber appear to be over. The only framing projects on my list will require a few boards, and I'm sitting on a couple of sheets of 3/4" plywood, so I'll be fine. Godspeed to those of you diving into basement projects. I hate to see you spend all your funds on lumber and not on TVs, kegerators, speakers and subwoofers.

• It's April 20, and COVID is barely holding on over at the New York Times where the front page of the dotcom has shifted to Minnesota and the George Floyd case. Remember two months ago when Dr. Michael Osterholm predicted a CAT 5 COVID hurricane was coming in April? Yes, there have been some hotspots (Michigan), but one look at the front of the Times shows us that we definitely aren't dealing with a CAT 5 variant-fueled hurricane. Even over at CNN, they can't seem to find a COVID angle that will draw in viewers, so they're backing off using the pandemic for ratings.

• The Karen Rovells of the world laughed at Dr. Marty Makary when he argued in the Wall Street Journal that Americans would resume a normal life in April.

Details are starting to emerge on how the NFL and Cleveland will handle the fan experience at next week's Draft. 3,000 fans will be allowed into the main stage area and then there will be fan experiences throughout the downtown area. It sounds like I'll just have to drive out and walk around to see what I can get myself into. It's Cleveland, some sort of content will just happen out of the blue.
