OutKick the Coverage: Dak's New Contract, Patriots QB plans, Propst Secret Recording, And More

Dak Prescott is finally getting a new deal.

It feels like the entire sports world, including OutKick founder Clay Travis, has been talking about this for forever now, but Dak has finally made it. Clay dove into some of the numbers and what they mean this morning on OutKick the Coverage.

"This is a big deal and an important contract," Clay said. "You see these big dollar figures that are discussed and tossed out there, but they don't actually end up reflecting what somebody actually earns. Because a lot of it is just about bragging rights, and the money at the end of the deal is not ever earned.

"I don't believe that's going to be the case, in any respect, with this particular deal with Dak. The expectations given his age would be that he would earn out in a big way and make effectively all $160 million over the next four years."

It's obviously a huge story for the future of the Dallas Cowboys. Like it or not, this franchise is now locked in with the Mississippi State product for the next four years. On the show, Clay talked about the new TV rights and how that's going to widen the gap between quarterback pay and the pay of other positions.

It was a fascinating segment, but there were many other topics to unpack on the show today.

Clay discussed what the Patriots are going to do at quarterback, now that Prescott is off the table. The changing market has created opportunities, and Clay predicted who he believes with be the next signal-caller in New England.

"I actually think the next quarterback of the New England Patriots, as the number of available quarterbacks continues to decline, is going to end up being either Marcus Mariota or potentially Jimmy Garoppolo," he said.

His reasoning for the prediction is fantastic and worth the listen.

After that, new OutKick radio personality Chad Withrow joined in, and the two discussed the Rush Propst secret recording, amongst other things. We also got appearances from Shannon Spake of Fox Sports and Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated.

Breer dove into the available quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft, and whether Zach Wilson should be QB2. Plus, Clay and Breer talked Sam Darnold trade value, and how things could look with Darnold on a new team.

You've got to check it out.
