Outkick Bets: NFL Slate to Slay

Last week the public lost their butts on the NFL slate of games. This week is different story. It’s time for us to reclaim that money.

Browns @ Patriots

The Patriots have won three in a row and no matter the competition, that’s a difficult proposition in the NFL. However, we should look at the competition. New England crushed the Jets, beat a rookie head coach in Los Angeles (Bill Belichick destroys rookie head coaches) and then punched a broken Sam Darnold into the injured reserve. The Patriots are playing a different animal Sunday, one that is flying high after dominating Cincinnati and is arguably in a healthier TEAM position without Odell Beckham Jr. on the team anymore. I worry some about the lack of Nick Chubb in this game but D’Ernest Johnson did play well against Denver when asked to shoulder the load earlier this year. The Patriots have also inexplicably only won a single game at home this season (Jets). I really like Cleveland in a momentum win.

Vikings @ Chargers

This feels like a good spot for Los Angeles. They rebounded from a tough loss to the Patriots by traveling to Philly and notching a win there and now they get to come back home for a battle with Minnesota. The Vikings are coming off a truly disappointing loss to the Ravens in which they surrendered a two-touchdown lead in the second half. Emotionally, I think we could see a flat Vikes squad especially early. The Chargers are also a a top-10 total offense and are top-5 thru the air. Minnesota counters with a bottom-5 defense and a QB that is about .500 in his career against the spread, oh and the Vikings are 1-3 on the road. Chargers -3 my friends.

Bills @ Jets

Not everything in this sport is easily explained. The Buffalo lost to Jacksonville last week and only scored six points. The Jets are 2-1 at home and that’s all their wins. Shrug shoulders emojis. This isn’t going to be a breakdown of the statistics pick either. It’s 100% in the Bills favor there. What’s important for me in this pick is the spot these teams are in. Buffalo has to been spitting nails this week after their lackluster performance in Jacksonville. Heads need to roll and the Jets might be the perfect get-well opponent. Zach Wilson practiced on Friday but he’s still doubtful for Sunday so it’s another chance for Mike White. The Jets also will be without a weapon for him Denzel Mims, on defense Marcus Maye is out because of an Achilles year against Indianapolis. I can’t see it any other way. Bills -12 and bank.
