Ole Miss Cracks Miss. State 31-21 In Egg Bowl For First 10-Win Regular Season

Ole Miss won 10 games in a regular season for the first time in program history with a 31-21 victory at Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl Thursday night.

The Rebels (10-2, 6-2 SEC) had five 10-win seasons before 2021, but in each of those the last win happened in a bowl game. Mississippi State finished the regular season at 7-5 and 4-4 and lost its second straight Egg Bowl.

Ole Miss led 10-6 at the half on a 1-yard touchdown run by tailback Snoop Conner, who scored again from a yard out for a 17-6 lead early in the third quarter. Quarterback Matt Corral’s 4-yard touchdown run put the Rebels up 24-6 early in the fourth quarter.

Corral threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jerrion Ealy for a 31-13 advantage with 5:35 to play in what was likely his final regular season game as a Rebel. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 234 yards.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers completed 28 of 58 passes for 336 yards and one touchdown – an 11-yard pass to Jaden Waley to cut Ole Miss’ lead to 24-13 with 7:20 to go.
