Vancouver Canucks Delay Opening Of Practice Facilities
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that another player has been placed in the NHL's COVID protocols and therefore that their practice facilities will not be reopened Sunday. The Canucks' facilities will remain closed until at least Monday.
Right now, the plan to play on Friday remains in place, but that could change if players or team members test positive for COVID this week.
Nineteen roster players were on the NHL's protocol list as of Saturday.
Since March 31st, eight games involving Vancouver have been postponed because of a COVID-19 outbreak.
The latest player on the team to enter the protocols has not been around the club since March 31st, the NHL said.
In a statement, the team said that the "the League's, NHLPA's and Club's medical groups determined that the prudent decision was to keep the facilities closed for an additional day."
The NHL said Saturday that the Canucks would be able to complete their full 56-game schedule.
