Chicago Blackhawks Reiterate That They're Keeping Their Name and Brand

The Cleveland Indians have announced that they are changing their name, which invariably brings questions about what the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Blackhawks plan to do. We went through this with the Washington Football Team in July, and at that juncture the Blackhawks expressed a commitment to keeping their name and logo.

The Blackhawks have reiterated that stance again, as relayed by Mark Burns of Sports Business Daily:

I live in Chicago, and I really haven't heard any outcry for the Blackhawks to change their name. Maybe that's because the NHL generally gets less exposure than the NFL and MLB, where name changes have happened. If that fight does ultimately happen now that other dominoes have fallen, Blackhawks team ownership will fight to maintain the name.
