Whether Lamar Jackson Returns To Ravens This Week 'Could Go Down To Wire'

With the Ravens' lead in the AFC North quickly dwindling, the status of starting quarterback Lamar Jackson remains very much in doubt.

Jackson suffered a sprained ankle in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns and did not return. Next up for the Ravens? None other than Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

“He’s getting treatment around the clock,” Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman told reporters on Jackson. “He’s a good healer, but we’ll just have to see what the doctors say.”

Jackson did not practice on Wednesday and it seemed doubtful he would go through a full one -- if any at all -- on Thursday.

If he plays Sunday is anyone's guess. And that perhaps includes Jackson and the Ravens. As Roman relayed, a decision on Jackson "could go down to the wire." That's not such a terrible thing, given that the Ravens don't mind keeping the Packers guessing.

But it could be a bad thing if Jackson doesn't actually play. If he doesn't, Tyler Huntley will get the nod. He filled in admirably for Jackson vs. the Browns, as the Ravens came all the way back from a 24-6 deficit, barely failing to finish the job in the two-point loss. Huntley also started against the Chicago Bears earlier this year.

As of Thursday afternoon, FanDuel listed the Ravens as 5.5-point underdogs. You can bet that line will move once we know the status of Jackson. But that may not be until right before kickoff.
