Washington Trainer On Leave Amidst Federal Investigation
Things have been crazy surrounding the Washington Football Team for a couple years now, and apparently, the hits just keep on coming.
According to multiple reports, federal investigators conducted a raid at Football Team facilities last week, and the team has said head trainer Ryan Vermillion has been "placed on administrative leave due to an ongoing criminal investigation that is unrelated to the team."
It's hard to know what's going on here just yet, but clearly, it ain't good.
Vermillion is in his second season with Washington after 18 years as a trainer for the Carolina Panthers. He spent nine of those years in Carolina working under current WFT coach Ron Rivera.
Vermillion did not travel with the team for the Football Team's 34-30 road win over the Atlanta Falcons, per JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.
Federal investigators searched the INOVA Sports Performance Center in Ashburn, Va., and a home in Loudoun County, NBC 4 in Washington reported.
Washington (2-2) sits in second place in the NFC East, behind only the rival Dallas Cowboys.
