Trevor Lawrence On State Of Things With Jags: 'Gosh, I'm Sick'

It's been a rough go of it for No. 1 overall draft pick and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

And that's the polite version.

Through three games, all losses, Lawrence has been intercepted seven times and lost two fumbles. The latest example that NFL QBing takes time came Sunday, when the Jaguars performed admirably in their game against the Arizona Cardinals ... then lost by a 31-19 count anyway.

The Jaguars actually led by a 19-17 count at one point. But then the wheels came off, spiraling them to their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season.

"Gosh, I'm sick,'' Lawrence told reporters. ''I feel like we should have won that game. But yeah, nothing changes. I thought we got a lot better today, and you could tell there were some sparks. We made some plays. But it's all about what you do and how you execute, and we didn't finish the game.

"We're close. We're getting there. But we're ready to go back to work and get ready for Cincinnati.''

Despite the addition of Lawrence and highly touted former college coach Urban Meyer, everyone knew this would be rough go of things for the Jaguars. You don't turn around a 1-15 finish in 2020 with just a few NFL newcomers.

But Meyer, for one, still believes in good things. Or so he says.

"I just want to win so damn bad for our players and for Jacksonville, the crowd was -- I appreciate them coming out, and the noise," Meyer said. "We're going to get this thing going, and I know I said that last week, but damn, they played hard. Our players played their asses off today. Just got to eliminate some mistakes and learn how to win."
