Three Colts Starters Now On The Reserve/COVID-19 List

The 2021 season is off to a tough start for the Indianapolis Colts, as Monday the club placed three of its most important offensive players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list: center Ryan Kelly, wideout Zach Pascal and newly-acquired quarterback Carson Wentz, who had foot surgery early in camp.

These player must sit for at least 10 days and then be cleared by a doctor before being able to take the field.

Pascal has been solid in three years with Indy, Pascal has pulled in 112 catches for 1,504 yards with 12 scores. He made 44 catches for 629 yards and five scores in 2020.

Kelly has been a big part of the team's success and was probably the best player on the team’s offensive line last year. The former Alabama center was the Colts' first-round pick (18th overall) back in 2016 and has started in 66 games, including last year’s playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills.

As for Wentz, he wasn’t going to be ready to start the season anyway after foot surgery, but if he’s since contracted COVID-19, he'll face yet another setback.

Indy kicks off the 2021 season at home on Sunday, September 12th against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Right now, QB Jacob Eason is slated to be the starter, with Bret Hundley as the backup.

In Week Two, the Colts will host Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. The team goes on the road in Week Three against the Tennessee Titans, their biggest rival. And then the first quarter of the season will come to an end in Week Four on October 3rd, when the Colts will travel to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins.

Obviously the team is hopeful for a healthy squad as the season gets rolling.
