Steelers' Dwayne Haskins Gets Tooth Knocked Out By Wife In Vegas
Pittsburgh Steelers backup QB Dwayne Haskins continues his streak of bad luck. The player was involved in an altercation with his wife on July 3 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Details from the scene allege that Haskins' wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins, confronted the NFL player over his plans with his group of friends that interfered with Gondrezick-Haskins' itinerary. The two were visiting Vegas to renew their vows.
A shouting match was heard from outside their suite, and the incident escalated into the two shoving each other. Gondrezick-Haskins then punched the quarterback. Once the scene got physical, Haskins requested that security escort his wife out of the suite.
As authorities surveyed the damage on the scene, they discovered part of a tooth belonging to Dwayne Haskins. According to KTNV, Gondrezick-Haskins faces a felony charge of battery and domestic violence. She is due for a court appearance on Aug 3.
Though drafted No. 15 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and now searching for a new start after two disappointing seasons with Washington, Dwayne Haskins has been criticized for his behavior off the field.
Back in 2020, the second-year QB was spotted at a club in the middle of the COVID season. By putting other players at risk of being sidelined with a positive COVID-19 test, Haskins was quickly demoted and eventually released by Washington in December.
After throwing for 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his final year at Ohio State University, Haskins threw for 12 touchdowns and 14 picks in his last two seasons as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Now backing up an aging Ben Roethlisberger, the young Haskins hopes to capitalize on the opportunity to learn under Big Ben and head coach Mike Tomlin, who have navigated similarly difficult times as members of the NFL.
Joshua Dobbs and Mason Rudolph also hope to earn the "next man up" role over Haskins as Big Ben nears his final days playing for Pittsburgh.
