Sean Payton Celebrates Broncos First Home Victory With Sushi, Which He Eats Only Because He's A 'Team Player'

The Denver Broncos defeated the Green Bay Packers, 19-17, on Sunday at Mile High. It was the first home victory for head coach Sean Payton.

The team's only other win came in Chicago against the Bears. It could also be their last victory for a little while as the team faces the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in their next two games.

So, Payton had a chance to celebrate with his family after the game, since he finally won in Denver. His wife and kids, apparently, are big fans of sushi. Sean Payton, though, is not.

Still, he's nothing if not a "team player" according to him.

"That was a good win for us and yet I’m driving home last night, heading to get sushi - I don’t like sushi - and finding myself circling around the parking lot, 'Why can’t I be happy?'" Payton told media members.

Some intrepid reporter asked the important follow-up question: if you don't like sushi, why would you celebrate with sushi?

“I’m a good team player here," Payton replied. "My wife likes it, my kids like it. Everyone in the party likes it. So I’m a team player. The nice thing is it was the first time we were going out to celebrate at home after a win at home. So that was good.’’

So, Payton admits that despite the win, he wasn't happy. Maybe that's because he's celebrating victories with a food that he hates.

Also, if his wife and kids know he doesn't like sushi and they want to get it anyway -- despite their very rich father, who's almost certainly paying for the meal, not wanting sushi -- doesn't that say a lot about his family?

Or about him?

I don't know.

Enjoy it, Sean Payton. That's going to be one of the few happy times this season.
