Scary Injury Leads To Chargers TE Donald Parham's Exit Against Chiefs
Chargers tight end Donald Parham left Thursday night's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs after appearing to suffer a concussion early in the first quarter.
Parham, paired up with Jared Cook as the featured tight ends in the Chargers offense, was in the end zone on a fourth-down play and became the recipient of a 5-yard pass from Justin Herbert.
The tight end, coming down with the pass, suddenly dropped the ball without any contact from a Chiefs defender and was then seen immobilized. Broadcast cameras focused in on Parham assuming the catch was a score, which led to an unsettling scene of Parham with his eyes shut and unable to move. A stretcher took Parham back to the locker room and early reports state that Parham then went to a nearby hospital after evaluation.
OutKick's ProFootballDoc commented on the injury: "#DonaldParhamJr with concussion as he slams back of his head to the turf. Classic posturing. Stretcher hopefully precaution."
The 24-year-old out of Stetson University had previously dealt with a knee injury before clearing his injury designation leading up to the Week 15 matchup.
Stay tuned with OutKick as we update Parham's status throughout the evening and week.
