Russell Wilson Will ‘Explore His Options’ This Offseason

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wants to see what options might exist for him outside of Seattle.

While the veteran QB hasn't requested a trade, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Wilson wants to look into other destinations to see if there's a chance he can better his position to win another championship and create the legacy he sees for himself.

Wilson said during one of his final press conferences that his hope is to stay in Seattle.

"We've always thought I would be here," Wilson said. "That's been always my goal, to win multiple Super Bowls, and my plan is to be here and do that. You take every day and you just enjoy the moment."

He also echoed the same sediments following the Seahawks' 38-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals during the last week of the regular season. “Obviously, I love this city,” Wilson said.

While the situation may feel like a familiar place as the team didn't continue into postseason play, one thing that's different is Wilson's possible destinations and possibly his mindset going into it all. Wilson suffered a tendon rupture, dislocation and two fractures to the middle finger of his throwing hand in October and came back to play a few short weeks later.

Rapoport said Monday the Seahawks don’t plan to fire head coach Pete Carroll because of the 7-10 record put up in 2021 — but rather that if Carroll and team leadership will make a plan for the future and go from there — it does appear that Carroll feels confident his future is secure in Seattle.
