Russell Wilson Could Return Sooner Than Initially Expected

Russell Wilson was initially projected to miss 6-8 weeks due to a fractured middle finger on his throwing hand. Following the Thursday night loss and injury against the Rams, Wilson scheduled surgery to repair the injured finger. The Seahawks received a positive prognosis on their franchise quarterback post surgery with Wilson now expected to miss only four weeks.

According to an ESPN source, "That's now the hope and, depending on some other factors, that's possible."

Thursday night's injury came off an accidental run-in with Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald when Wilson's hand came down on the incoming Donald.

Wilson was sidelined for the entire fourth quarter of the NFC West matchup — allowing Geno Smith to helm the offense for the remainder of the game, and moving forward.

Wilson has not been placed on IR and will break his streak of 165 consecutive games with an absence in Week 6's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
