Roger Goodell: We Want Fans In Stands For Super Bowl, But How Many?

Fans will be allowed to attend the Super Bowl in Tampa, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday he's not certain how many.

Goodell attended Sunday's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings at Raymond James Stadium, and then followed up with a media Zoom call a day later.

While refusing to speculate on an exact number for Super Bowl LV, Goodell did offer praise for Buccaneers fans who followed current COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Goodell said his goal for the Super Bowl is to have as many fans as safely possible. But that won't be determined until after the NFL holds conversations with local health officials and learns what the COVID numbers will look like in early February.

Super Bowl LV is scheduled for Feb. 7. For the first time in history, the NFL will go totally cashless for the big game.
