Richard Sherman Drawing Interest From Saints

The New Orleans Saints have reportedly expressed interest in veteran cornerback Richard Sherman, who is set to enter the free-agent market for the second time in his career.

The 32-year-old played just five games with San Francisco in 2020, due to various injuries, and he recorded one interception and one pass defended. He appeared in 15 games in 2019 and 14 contests in 2018.

The Seattle Seahawks selected Sherman in the fifth round of the 2011 draft, and he quickly became the league’s elite ballhawk at the cornerback position.

In Seattle, he was a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro, registering 32 interceptions and 99 passes defended in 105 regular-season games. He also helped take Seattle to two Super Bowls and to win one of them.

"The Seattle connection could be something that draws Sherman to New Orleans, as Saints defensive backs coach Kris Richard was the Seahawks defensive backs coach during Sherman's time there," Bleacher Report writes.
