Panthers Waive DB After Hit Caused WR To Leave Practice In Ambulance

The Carolina Panthers waived defensive back JT Ibe after a vicious hit on wide receiver Keith Kirkwood resulted in an ambulance being called to take Kirkwood from the Panthers training facility. Ibe, an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina, can be seen on video hitting Kirkwood with what is being described as a hit to the head.

"Kirkwood has movement in his arms and legs, and coach Matt Rhule said after practice that Kirkwood has no pain in his neck. The Panthers said the trip to the hospital was a precaution," according to Charlotte Observer reporter Alaina Getzenberg.

Head coach Matt Rhule called the hit "completely unacceptable," while Sam Darnold told the media, “We’ve got to do a lot better job of taking care of each other out there.”

Ruhle said there are bang-bang plays where things happen but added, "You can't tee off on somebody."

Ibe was immediately kicked out of practice and cut by the organization.
