Panthers 'In the Mix' for Deshaun Watson

While Deshaun Watson has not yet demanded a trade from the Houston Texans, things feel like they could be moving in that direction. On Sunday, we named five destinations that would make sense for Watson, including the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Don't discount the Carolina Panthers also getting into the mix however, says Ian Rapoport on NFL Network:

The Jets and Dolphins both have two first round picks this year. The Jets pick No. 2 overall, and the Dolphins pick No. 3 because they have the Texans' pick from the Laremy Tunsil trade. If either of these two teams decides to go all-in for the top QBs in the draft, it will be hard for the Panthers (or anyone else) to compete with an offer.

However, as Rapoport notes, the Panthers do have the eighth overall pick, and they have a new owner in David Tepper who wants to make a splash. They also have an uncertain quarterback future, if Teddy Bridgewater is not the long-term answer. The Panthers ultimately may not have the ammo to land Watson in a trade, if his situation in Houston is indeed unsalvageable. However, Carolina is another team we should at least consider if Watson trade rumors persist.
