Packers WR Davante Adams Confirms He And The Team Are Talking About A New Deal

The Green Bay Packers and All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams are having chats about a new contract to keep him a Packer for the next few years.

The wide out stated that he's had preliminary talks with the Packers about a new deal. His current contract is set to expire after the 2021 season.

Adams has been vocal about the ongoing situation with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and he says that how that plays out will be a determining factor in whether he comes back to Green Bay.

“That’ll play into it, but there’s been talks, just really just talks, but we haven’t really done anything or talked about anything that’s worth mentioning,” Adams said.

“It’s kind of just been the beginning stage of talking, and we’ll figure out what happens. Hopefully, something gets figured out, but I’m just there to play ball either way. That stuff will take care of itself eventually.”

Adams has stated that he will be at Packers training camp at the end of July, no matter the situation with the new deal.

If the Packers and Adams don't get a deal done, he would undoubtedly be one of the biggest names on the free agent market and would command a massive deal from a team looking to upgrade its wide out corps.

Right now, the highest paid receiver in the NFL is the Arizona Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins, who pulls in $27.3 million per season.
