Packers WR Adams Says No New Deal Before Opener

A simple, two word answer has given fans an indication of where Packers wide out Davante Adams' head is at when it comes to signing a new deal.

When asked whether he'd ink a new deal before the game against the Saints on Sunday, Adams simply replied: "No chance."

It's been a long back and forth offseason for the Packers and Adams, who may have taken a backseat to all the drama with Rodgers. Nevertheless, Adams appears ready to play out his contract, which is done after this season.

The 28-year-old is entering the last season of a four-year, $58-million deal, and reports say that chats between the receiver and Packers broke off on July 23rd.

Adams openly admits he thinks he's the best pass catcher in the game, but he's far from the highest-paid. Right now Arizona Cardinals star DeAndre Hopkins' is the highest paid receiver, making $27.25 million per season. Adams thinks he deserves better, but the team has some serious salary cap issues that will probably make Adams' demands difficult to meet.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has said he wants the team to be able to bring back Adams, but for now, both sides sit in limbo.

Though the Packers lost to the Buccaneers in the NFC title game a year ago, Adams says that this team is "hungry" and ready to win now.

"This is the hungriest team I’ve been around -- just because we've been so close," Adams said.
