Odell Beckham Jr. Clears Waivers, Hoping To Sign With Packers
Odell Beckham Jr. is eyeing the Packers as his next destination, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Beckham Jr., 29, cleared waivers on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, making him a free agent. The Browns announced on Friday that they would be parting ways with him and officially released him on Monday. Cleveland restructured Beckham Jr.'s contract, removing the final two years from his deal. Any team that claimed him before the 4:00 p.m. deadline on Tuesday would've owed Beckham Jr. the remaining $7.25 million on his contract.
Beckham Jr. is now available to sign with a contender as he desires. The Saints, Patriots and Seahawks were seen as possible destinations, but it now seems that Beckham Jr. could be taking his talents to Green Bay.
The Packers currently sit at 7-2, first place in the NFC North. The Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams connection has been one of the NFL's best but finding a consistent WR2 has been tough for Green Bay.
Beckham Jr. has five 1,000-yard seasons on his resume, the last coming in 2019 with the Browns. He has only played in 13 games over the last two seasons, sidelined by multiple injuries.
