NFLPA Updates Its Testing Policy For Vaccinated People
NFL continues to say it won't mandate COVID vaccines for players, but the league continues to incentivize it.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the league agreed to terms with the NFL Players Association that, effective immediately, fully vaccinated individuals will be required to test weekly instead of daily, with no re-entry testing after travel and no quarantine if identified as a high-risk close contact.
In a memo sent from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to chief executives, club presidents and general managers, the COVID vaccinations efforts are outlined and include team partnerships with CVS and educational sessions.
"The NFL and NFLPA will closely monitor the impact of these changes and will consider additional modifications to the protocols as vaccinations levels in club facilities increase," the memo reads.
Pelissero reports that other team employees — such as coaches — must get vaccinated or they'll lose Tier 1/2 status and can't work directly with players. He mentions there is still no agreement with the NFLPA on other offseason changes.
