NFL Seeking Host City For Game In Germany

The NFL has put in a lot of effort to expand games in international markets such as England and Mexico, and it seems that Germany is next on the list.

NFL chief strategy officer Chris Halpin was asked to forecast what the schedule will look like five years from now, and he said that he foresees four games in London, one game in Mexico, and one in Germany — and that game in Germany could happen as early as 2022.

And now, the NFL requesting proposals for games in Germany is official, as the league seeks a city to host.

Germany is a fast-riser in international circles, CBS Boston reports. This year, the NFL had 2.2 million German people watching as an average-minute audience — the way Nielsen rates NFL games.

Subscriptions to the NFL’s big pay-TV model, NFL GamePass, were up 30 percent worldwide last year, which is a huge revenue stream, the article states .

If the German games happen, the NFL will likely play in Allianz Stadium in Munich, which holds more than 70,000 fans, the article states.
