NFL Insider: Tim Tebow A Longshot To Make Jaguars Roster

As the Jacksonville Jaguars embark on the 2021 season, the team already has a number of decisions to make: whether first overall pick Trevor Lawrence will be the opening day starter and whether Tim Tebow is going to make the roster as a tight end.

Tebow has been impressive, according to reports, and is working hard, but a lot of NFL insiders still feel that there is a very slim chance that he makes the team's opening day roster.

One such person who spoke about Tebow is CBS Sports’ Patrik Walker. Walker thinks that the dream of playing in Jacksonville won't be realized by Tebow this season and that he will eventually be released.

"Tebow had to know this was a long shot when he signed on, and his only saving grace might be his relationship with Urban Meyer — the reason he’s getting this shot in the first place," Walker wrote.

"That said, even Meyer is claiming Tebow will be evaluated like others on the roster with no special considerations. Time will tell if that’s true, but if it is, Tebow’s experiment at tight end could end soon. The Jaguars have several tight ends already on the roster who have a ton of experience at the position, headlined by Chris Manhertz, who was also invited to the famed “Tight End University” instead of Tebow.

"Headlines aside, this is the most sensical cut to be made by the Jaguars, unless they want to sacrifice a seat on their 53-man roster for a 33-year-old who’s never played tight end before and came out of retirement to try."

Tebow has been part of miracles in the past when he played for the Denver Broncos, so in his mind, he's still got a chance to be a part of the team. As for others looking at the situation, it's a longshot for sure.
