Najee Harris Gets Sent Home For Working Too Hard

Former Alabama running back Najee Harris' work ethic won't be a reason he doesn’t succeed as a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie.

Pittsburgh chose Harris with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the California native wasted no time getting to work. He put in long hours and recently made headlines because his running back coach told him he couldn't stay late after practice any longer to get more reps, Yahoo Sports reports.

Steelers running backs coach Eddie Faulkner said he told Harris to go home during minicamp because he was watching too much film.

“It is true,” Faulkner said during a press conference. “Number one, and let me tell you why it’s true because I’m for all the hard work and the extra. I’m all here for that. I love it. But he also has to learn, part of Najee and getting to know Najee in the draft processes, he also has to learn how to give himself breaks too. He works his butt off and sometimes it’s a reward like, ‘Hey man, go home, relax, watch TV, do something different than the football.'"

Faulkner said that Harris will have to learn how to give himself a break and part of his learning process will be learning how to take a break.
