Matthew Stafford Popped Finger Back In Place During Rams’ TNF Win
The tale of two NFC West teams went in opposite directions following Thursday night's win by the Rams.
Los Angeles improved to 4-1 to stay just behind the Arizona Cardinals (4-0) while the Seahawks fell to 2-3 and the bottom of the division. Seattle's unlucky streak carried over to Friday when injury reports declared franchise quarterback Russell Wilson out for up to eight weeks due to an extensor tendon rupture to the middle finger of his throwing hand — per OutKick's ProFootballDoc.
However, Wilson wasn't the only play caller battling through a finger injury. Rams QB Matthew Stafford announced that sometime in the second quarter, he felt a lingering pain coming from the index finger on his right hand.
Photos from Thursday Night Football's matchup showed Stafford wearing a small wrap around the finger, but the QB ensured that the pain was minimal — finishing the game without any missed time. Stafford admitted that the finger was slight displaced when he first noticed the pain, resulting in the QB popping it back in place and throwing his way to 365 yards, a touchdown and a win, 26-17.
The Rams face the New York Giants in Week 5 — a favorable matchup for Los Angeles that should keep the team on place to challenge the Cardinals for the No. 1 spot in the NFC West
