Matt Nagy Thinks He'll Get At Least Two More Games As Bears Coach

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy may not be the Bears' head coach next season -- but he seems to believe he'll at least be around to finish this one.

That's quite an assumption, given that teams can start interviewing rival assistant coaches, per NFL rules, as soon as Tuesday. And teams normally don't interview other teams' assistants when their current coach remains on the sideline and in the locker room.

Nagy has been on the hot seat since around Thanksgiving, as the Bears have stumbled their way to a 5-10 mark. It's hard to fathom that the Bears will want to keep him for 2022. With that in mind, it's hard to fathom the Bears wanting to keep him another day.

"Nagy may have earned a temporary reprieve on Sunday as the Bears beat the Seahawks, 25-24," wrote Zachary Links of Pro Football Rumors. "After Nick Foles‘ game-tying touchdown drive, Nagy’s gutsy call to go for a two-point conversion paid off. It’s hard to imagine that the victory — win No. 5 for the Bears this year — will have a real impact on Nagy’s standing beyond this year. But, in theory, it could give Nagy another two games at the helm."

So the truth is, it's all but over for Nagy with the Bears. Whether they let him go now or in three weeks seems to be beside the point.
