Jordan Love 'Super Excited' For Preseason Opener
Throughout the NFL offseason, love's been anything but a term of endearment for the Packers' backup quarterback. Entering his second season, Jordan Love has more often been tied to terms like raw, young, and inexperienced. With Aaron Rodgers' return to Green Bay putting an end to any hopes he had of starting, Love is anxious for a taste of any form of live action:
“I’m super excited for it,” Love said of the Packers' August 14th preseason opener, per Yahoo. “The last time I’ve played in a game was the Senior Bowl coming out of college. A little over a year and a half ago, I think. Super excited. This is the moment I’ve been preparing for, even since last year not having the preseason. It’s almost like I’ve almost been training a year for this first preseason game. I’m super excited to get out there and get back to playing ball.”
Despite being drafted in last year's first round, Love didn't have the opportunity to take any in-game snaps. The league canceled the entire preseason, then Love was made inactive for all of Green Bay's regular and post season games.
When Rodgers skipped the entire 2021 offseason prior to training camp, Love received his most work under center since being drafted. The extra snaps served as confidence booster. “Me being able to get all those reps, that was huge,” said Love.
Love will have plenty of opportunities to earn the affection of Green Bay fans, beginning with the preseason opener against Houston.
