Jaguars Put Former Top-10 Pick C.J. Henderson On Trade Block

Former Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson is only one year into his NFL career. In fact, it's been only about 15 months since the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him No. 9 overall. And yet, the team is already considering moving him.

Jeremy Fowler with ESPN reported on Sunday that team executives believe he's available via a trade.

"A surprise: Multiple team execs believe Jaguars corner C.J. Henderson -- the ninth overall pick in 2020 -- is available via trade," Fowler tweeted. "Jacksonville has given impression in some league circles that it's shopping Henderson, a high-pedigree player one year into rookie deal."

Even though Henderson is still a young, ascending talent, new coach Urban Meyer and Jacksonville spent the offseason upgrading the cornerback position. They re-signed Sidney Jones to a new deal, signed Shaquill Griffin to a big free agent contract and drafted Tyson Campbell No. 33 overall back in April.

Plus, fourth-year player Tre Herndon is still considered a solid option at the position as well.

If Henderson is in fact on the trade block, there will be plenty of teams out there willing to make a deal for him. He is still only 22 years old, after all. But whether a trade is ever facilitated will largely depend on the asking price.

Even a Day 2 pick in exchange could likely get it done, but are the Jags willing to take that type of deal one year in? Time will tell.
