Former Saints QB Brees Gives Props To Young Chargers QB Justin Herbert

The NFL career of Drew Brees is over, and now the former five-time NFL MVP and future Hall of Famer is speaking about the traits and talents of another young up and coming quarterback.

That quarterback was the No. 6 pick of the 2020 draft, Los Angeles Chargers thrower Justin Herbert, who had a solid rookie season for the Chargers.

Brees was on hand in Los Angeles taking in a practice with the Chargers as part of his new role with NBC, and was impressed with what he saw from the young Herbert.

"I think his physical tools are as good as anybody I've ever seen," Brees said Wednesday, per Fernando Ramirez of Sports Illustrated’s Charger Report.

"By all accounts, he's a great worker. He's got great leadership qualities, he's got a lot of intangibles. So I think the sky's the limit for a guy like him."

At just 23 years old, Herbert has a long way to go in his development as a quarterback, which has Charger fans very excited about his and the team's future.

Last season, Herbert shattered a number of rookie records, throwing for 31 touchdown passes, 396 completions and eight 300-yard games.

He was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, rushing for 234 yards and five touchdowns.

We will soon see whether Brees is right about Herbert, and whether the young QB comes back with an even better sophomore season.
