Forgotten Ram DeSean Jackson: 'I Still Feel Like I Can Play At A High Level'

DeSean Jackson's one of those guys you forget is still in the NFL until the amateur in your fantasy league recognizes his name and drafts him way too early. This year, it's not just fans forgetting about DJax, the Los Angeles offense also seems to have forgotten that the speedy wide receiver is taking up a spot on their roster. That's fine by Jackson who will be ready whenever he's called upon. Whenever that is.

After two games, Jackson, 34, has just two catches and 21 yards. In last week's win against Indianapolis, Jackson was on the field for only three plays. “I was a little frustrated, I mean being a playmaker and being someone who’s had a lot of success in this league,” Jackson told the LA Times' Gary Klein. “I just want to just do what they brought me here to do, which is help the team win."

Jackson, who signed as a free agent in the off-season, has yet to get on track, though he feels the Rams will be dialing up his number soon enough. He tells Gary Klein: “The first two games, we didn’t really need it. But there’s going to be games where things are going to be needed. I still feel like I can play at a high level, and I know I can bring some special things to this team.”

Pedestrian numbers aside, Jackson is pleased to be on an established team that's an early-season contender: “The biggest thing is, as long as we’re winning, we’re happy and everybody is contributing and doing what they can, that’s all that really matters."

“I just want to win and contribute the best way I can,” added Jackson.

Until he proves he can still play at a high level, even the most novice fantasy GMs may want to find someone other than Jackson to occupy their Flex spot.
