Eagles QB Hurts Gives Advice To Patriots Rookie QB Mac Jones About His Rookie Year

Last season, rookie Jalen Hurts had to sit back and wait. Wait for the Eagles to fall so low that the coaching staff felt comfortable playing him.

Now Hurts is giving advice to a former Alabama teammate and current New England Patriots QB Mac Jones.

Jones is in a good situation with New England this year, as he'll be part of a quarterback shuffle with the likes of Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, and veteran Brian Hoyer.

“Mac Jones, he had the opportunity — I think the best way to learn is to watch,” Hurts said in a recent interview.

“Watch, take note of those around you, kind of learn the lay of the land, if you will. Learn that way. You know, Mac had a very unique college career where he had to stay patient, and it worked out for him. And I’m happy it did.”

The buzz around Patriots camp is that Jones has been very good up to this point. He's been accurate with his throws, and he can pick up formations and blitzes more easily than most rookie quarterbacks.

“He was able to watch me and Tua go through that, get him some burn here and there,” Hurts said.

“Ultimately, when it was his time, he took off with it. And now, he has a great opportunity for his future.”
